Thanks for visiting the one and only official website of everyone's favorite Dann with 2 "n's".
As one can tell by looking thru the site, I'm primarily a comic artist. Not saying I can't draw anything else, but doing the comics thing is what makes me happy and people tend to like what I do in regards to the comic/fantasy fun type of artwork.
While working digitally has it's merits, I'm mainly a traditional pen/ink, watercolor, copic colors kinda guy. There's just something about the smell of the ink and the feel of a brush that just makes it a thousand times more enjoyable for me.
I've had years of experience meeting deadlines and working with writers and editors. There's always something fantastic about getting a copy of a real life comic book or magazine and seeing your work and name in it's pages.
Lately, I've been doing commission work. It seems to help pay the bills and gives me plenty of opportunity to meet a lot of fellow comic fans out there. I'm always open for new requests. Every now and then you'll see my sales pop up on Facebook and Instagram, but requests are always accepted.

I've got a lot of influences...a ton of greats that inspire and recharge me every time I look at their work. There's the obvious artists, like Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko...but others too. Folks like Walt Simonson, John Byrne, John and Sal Buscema, Ron Frenz, Gil Kane and Jim Aparo...all greats, each and every one!
There are others too... non comic artists like Alphonse Mucha, and non superhero artists like Archie penciler Harry Lucey. Heck, there's a zillion more out there that I could name, but the internets not big enough!

A TOUR OF THE STUDIO!
I've been asked again by a few folks out there to show what my studio looks like. It's nothing fancy...just a spare room in my house that I work in, but I can give the particulars. Because, y'know, why not?

THE ART TABLE!
I've had this table for a few years now. The clear glass top is great as it's really easy to clean, and if I ever need a light box, I just switch the lamps and, huzzah... instant light box!!
I have a copy of Wally Wood's "22 Panels That Always Work" taped to the top...just when I need a reminder for page layouts. Wally Wood was a complete genius!
I have a few comics. Years ago, I realized that the normal long boxes were just taking up too much room, so I decided to use standard book shelves to hold the things. They take up an entire wall, but I can walk around the room at least.

I'm a collector, so I like to get a lot of obscure or cool stuff. (for reference, of course) Collected volumes of Popeye, Prince Valiant and the Terran Trade Authority stuff is always something I'm on the lookout for.
Three Stooges figures (still missing Moe) Old, classic glasses and a Don Perlin original are just some of the stuff floating on top the shelves.
Other stuff, like the Micronauts and old Archie digests are always around too. And, yeah...that's me and Stan Lee. Be jealous!
I'm usually working in the studio, but when I need a break from pencil pushing, there's always a favorite old pastime of mine....video games! BUT...old school style!
I have an original Atari 2600 with tons of old games, along with the Sega Genesis and a retro Intellivision System! Next, I need to go up a bit and get another Sega Saturn...those games were fun.

More old school goodness as I have an honest to goodness Convenience Store Comic book Spinner Rack. These things are hard to find and it's been with me for years now. I like to keep stuff like my Marvel Essentials and books like that in it.

I also have loads of board games. We're a gaming family so we seem to buy new games all the time. The latest craze for me is SMASH UP. I could play that game for hours. I'm also a collector of RISK boards. I've been playing that game all my life and all the different boards are always fun. I even have a 1958 board from England. I just got the Star Wars board from my son for Christmas. Still need to play that one.
I was always a fan of Godzilla, too. "Godzilla vs the Smog Monster" was the very first movie I remember seeing in a theater when I was a little kid, and the latest poster was something that I really had to have!
And lastly....I made a cool light switch.
...Annnnd, that's the tour. Just a tiny look at where I work and what's around me as I sit hunkered over a drawing board. It's my version of the "Man Cave". It's just not in the basement and I don't have a Budweiser sign or an ode to the Green Bay Packers anywhere near me!
